The leisure centre sits right on the edge of Fortrose, a smart modern facility that's genuinely useful rather than thrilling. Inside you'll find a swimming pool, gym, and sports halls - the sort of place locals actually use rather than tourists queue up for.

It's worth knowing about if you're camping at Fortrose Bay Campsite just down the road and fancy a swim or a workout. The pool is decent enough, though nothing special architecturally. Real draw here is the gym and soft play area if you've got restless kids in tow. Not somewhere you'd travel specifically for, but brilliant if you're based locally for a week and need to break up the holiday routine.

Being part of the council leisure service, entry fees are reasonable - nothing steep. Swimming is typically a couple of quid for kids, a few more for adults. Open most of the day most days, though hours can shift seasonally so ring ahead before you go. Allow an hour for a proper swim, longer if the kids want the play areas too.
