Black Hill

The walk up Black Hill rewards you with proper views across Bracknell Forest - nothing dramatic, but genuinely satisfying if you're not expecting alpine scenery. It's a modest rise at 245 metres, the sort of peak that locals know well but visitors often miss entirely.

You get a decent panorama from the top across the woodland and surrounding area. On a clear day it's worth the climb; on a grey one, frankly, you'll wonder why you bothered. The woodland walk itself is pleasant enough - mixed forest, quiet paths, the sort of thing that feels restorative after an hour in the car.

Historically inclined walkers will appreciate that you're moving through genuine ancient woodland here, and the summit area has evidence of old trackways. It's not a destination in itself - more of a natural focal point if you're exploring the broader forest on foot.

Families with younger kids might find it a bit of a non-event; there's no visitor centre, no facilities, just woodland and a viewpoint. Older children who actually enjoy hiking will get more from it. Allow 90 minutes round trip from the nearest car park, depending on your fitness and how many photos you take.

If you're staying at Warfield Park nearby, it's a straightforward morning walk that gets you away from the caravans without much fuss. Worth doing once if you're in the area. Don't plan your whole trip around it.
