Billing Pocket Park

Just outside Northampton, Billing Pocket Park is a proper little nature reserve that punches above its weight. It's small - you won't need more than an hour here - but the wetland habitat genuinely attracts birdwatchers and anyone after a quiet walk without the crowds.

The reserve centres around a lake and marshy ground where you can spot waterfowl, dragonflies, and the occasional kingfisher if you're lucky. Since it's only a mile from Billing Aquadrome Holiday Park and within spitting distance of Overstone Lakes and Sywell Country Park, you could easily tack it onto a broader Northamptonshire park holiday. The nearby holiday parks give you proper flexibility if you're touring the region's lakes and reserves.

Access appears to be free, though it's worth ringing ahead to check current conditions, especially after heavy rain when paths can get boggy. Go early in the day for the best chance of seeing wildlife, and bring binoculars if you've got them.
