About Beinn Raimh
The route starts near Kyle itself and winds through moorland and rocky terrain. On a clear day, the vistas are spectacular - you can see the Trotternish Ridge across the water and far enough out to catch Applecross on the mainland. Allow a good four to five hours for the round trip if you're taking your time. The descent can be trickier than the climb, so save some energy for the way down.
This is absolutely one for experienced hill walkers and families with teenagers who enjoy a proper challenge. If you've got young kids or prefer an easier afternoon walk, you might find it a bit much. It's free to walk, of course - just park sensibly near the starting point.
If you're staying at Reraig Caravan & Camping on Skye, Beinn Raimh makes an excellent day trip across the bridge. The village of Kyle itself is small and straightforward - grab supplies before you set off rather than relying on finding anything on the hill. Spring through to early autumn is your best bet for decent conditions.
