The Bronze Age cairn sits on a hillside above Blaenau Ffestiniog, commanding views across the Snowdonia valleys. Walking up to it takes about twenty minutes from the nearest access point, depending on your fitness and the state of the paths. The real appeal is the combination - it's genuinely old, the setting is wild and genuine, and you get that satisfying moment when archaeology makes the landscape feel inhabited by history. Families with older kids will find it interesting, though younger ones might struggle with the climb and the lack of interpretation boards or facilities.
