Right on the outskirts of Banchory sits a proper community sports centre that's genuinely useful if you're staying in one of the nearby caravan parks and the weather turns grim. It's the kind of place that keeps families occupied for a morning - indoor swimming pool, gym facilities, and activity halls for badminton or basketball if you've got restless kids in tow.

The centre itself is functional rather than fancy. You won't be blown away by the architecture or anything, but that's not the point. What matters is it's there, it's accessible, and it does the job when you need to get out of the Scottish drizzle without driving thirty minutes to Aberdeen.

If you're camped at Banchory Lodge Caravan Park or Silverbank just down the road, both within walking distance, it's worth knowing about.
