Banc Llanfair

The walk up Banc Llanfair from Llandysul isn't long, but it's steep enough to make your legs remind you why you came. This is a proper little peak - nothing Alpine, but the kind of hill that rewards you with views across the Teifi Valley that justify the effort. On a clear day you can see right across to the Cambrian Mountains. The summit itself is modest, just open moorland with a small cairn, but that's part of the appeal. Walkers will get the most out of this one. It's a decent afternoon outing - allow two to three hours there and back depending on your pace and how long you linger at the top. The path is reasonably clear, though it can get boggy after rain, so proper boots are worth bringing. Families with older kids will manage fine; younger ones might find the steepness a bit much.

There's no charge to walk it, naturally. Best tackled on one of those crisp Welsh days when the visibility is good - autumn and early spring tend to be your sweet spots. Summer can be hazy.
