Banc Du Standing Stone

You'll find this Bronze Age monolith standing alone in the Pembrokeshire countryside, a few miles inland from Newport. It's not dramatic or tall - more like a weathered finger pointing at the sky - but that's rather the point. Banc Du is the kind of site that rewards a proper wander rather than a quick photo stop.

The stone itself is genuinely ancient, erected thousands of years ago by people whose names we'll never know. Walking out to it across the fields gives you time to think about that, which sounds pretentious but genuinely isn't. It's quiet out here. You get a sense of scale - not just the stone's, but your own.
