The narrow lane leading to Ballyquintin Farm winds through proper rural County Down, the kind of place where you'll actually need to reverse if another car comes the other way. This working farm sits on the edge of the Mourne foothills, a few miles south of Downpatrick, and it's worth a stop if you're interested in how things actually operate in rural Northern Ireland rather than just passing through on the main roads.

It's a genuine, unglamorous working farm - no gift shop, no visitor centre, no interpretive panels telling you what to think. You get the real thing: livestock, machinery, the rhythms of seasonal work. The location itself is the draw here. You're surrounded by genuine countryside, with views across toward the mountains, and it feels a world away from the tourist trail even though Downpatrick's only a short drive north.
