Aylesford church

The church sits at the heart of Aylesford village like it owns the place, which technically it has for roughly a thousand years. St Peter and St Paul is a proper medieval affair with enough architectural swagger to make you pause on the high street and actually look up from your phone.

Truthfully, it's not a detour destination in itself unless you're already committed to the area. But if you're camping nearby at Gatehouse Wood Country Park, it's absolutely worth the short trip. Churches this solid don't demand your time lightly, and Aylesford rewards the fifteen-minute stroll through the village itself.
