There's nothing fancy about it, and that's rather the point. You'll find a cricket pitch, football areas, and the sort of amenities you'd expect from a village recreation ground.

It's the kind of place that matters more to families staying at nearby caravan parks like Bobsfield or The Hideout than it does to tourists chasing Somerset's bigger attractions. If you've got young kids who need to burn off energy between days out, or you fancy a casual walk across open countryside, it's perfectly decent. On a sunny afternoon it's quite pleasant - genuinely peaceful in a way that suburban playing fields often aren't.

The real appeal comes if you're based at one of the local holiday parks for a week or more. Walk here from Thornhills or Castle Farm Campsite and you've got a straightforward circuit through Ashcott. In summer, if there's a match or event on, it adds a bit of life to proceedings. In winter, it's just wet grass.
