The walk into ApexChurch from central Peterhead takes barely ten minutes, which means you won't lose half a day getting there. It's a modern evangelical church - all glass frontage and contemporary architecture - that stands rather at odds with Aberdeenshire's older stone kirks. If you're after a traditional church visit, this isn't it.

What you get instead is a functioning community space with a welcoming air. The building itself is bright and clean, and there's usually someone around willing to chat about what goes on here. Services happen regularly, and they do occasionally welcome visitors outside of worship times, though it's worth ringing ahead first to check they're open. The interior is straightforward - more concert hall than cathedral - which appeals to some people and absolutely doesn't to others.

This is really one for either local visitors staying at Peterhead Marina Bay Holiday Park who fancy a proper look around the town's religious life, or families wanting a break from museum-hopping. Kids won't find it a thrilling stop on its own. Forty minutes absolute maximum, and that's being generous.

It fits reasonably into a Peterhead-based break if you're interested in how modern church architecture sits alongside the town's fishing heritage. Otherwise, honestly, I'd spend your time at the seafront or visiting the heritage museums instead. It's pleasant enough, but not a reason to visit Peterhead on its own.
