Animal Farm Adventure Park

The animals here are the main draw, and they're kept in decent conditions across several enclosures scattered across the park grounds. You'll find the usual suspects - sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs - plus a few larger residents depending on the season. It's genuinely low-key, the sort of place where kids can get close to the animals rather than peering at them from fifty metres away behind a rope.

Allow a couple of hours maximum. Most families with young children - say, under eight - will get proper value from it. Older kids might find themselves bored after an hour, unless feeding time coincides with your visit, which tends to hold their attention. The park is close enough to Burnham-on-Sea that it makes sense as a half-day activity when you're staying in one of the nearby holiday parks like Yellow Sands or Golden Sands.

Brought your walking boots? There's plenty of better countryside to explore in this corner of Somerset, but as a rainy-day or post-breakfast distraction while you're based at a caravan park, it does the job. The admission charge won't break you, and the Burnham area is compact enough that you're never far from better attractions if the mood takes you. Worth the detour only if you've got toddlers in tow or you're genuinely keen on close-up animal encounters. Otherwise, keep it as a backup plan.
