Amusement Park

There's an amusement park just east of Elstree that's worth knowing about if you're staying in the area, though I'll be honest - it's not going to blow your mind if you're expecting Alton Towers territory. The rides are decent enough for a half-day outing, particularly if you've got kids aged between five and early teens who aren't jaded by theme park standards yet.

You get the usual mix: coasters, spinning rides, dodgems, and the sort of attractions that keep youngsters entertained for a few hours without completely emptying your wallet. The place runs seasonally rather than year-round, so check ahead before you trek out. Admission isn't free, but it's not extortionate either if you're smart about booking online.

Location-wise, it's convenient - close enough to Elstree that you can base yourself at Elstree Park holiday resort and make it a day trip without spending half your time driving. Pair it with the other attractions dotted around Hertfordshire and you've got a reasonable itinerary. Teenagers might find it a bit small, and if you're after something properly ambitious, you'd be better off heading further afield. But for families with younger children wanting a casual afternoon of thrills? It does the job. Allow three to four hours, grab lunch there (it's pricey, as these places are), and don't expect queues to be an issue unless you visit during school holidays.
