Allt Pen-cerig

A proper woodland walk through steep valley sides near Carmarthen, Allt Pen-cerig cuts into the Carmarthenshire landscape like a ravine carved by time. It's free to access as far as I can tell, with no obvious visitor infrastructure, which means you won't encounter the usual facilities or crowds.

If you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks - Coedhirion Farm Holidays is closest at just over a mile away, or Quarry Lodge if you prefer a campsite - this makes a solid morning walk. Pair it with an afternoon exploring Carmarthen itself and you've got a decent day. It's not dramatic enough to plan a trip around, but it's exactly what you need when you're already in the area.
