Allt Pant-Olwen

The forest at Allt Pant-Olwen sits above Llandysul in a quiet corner of Ceredigion that most visitors miss entirely. It's proper woodland - mixed deciduous trees, a decent network of paths, and the kind of place where you actually hear birdsong instead of traffic. The Teifi valley drops away as you walk higher, and on a clear day you get decent views back towards the coast.

Walkers will find this worth an hour or two if you're in the area. The paths are manageable rather than challenging, which makes it good for families with older kids or anyone after an easy afternoon ramble. Younger children might tire quickly though - there's no playground or obvious "destination" point, just woodland. If you're staying at The Three Spaniels (5.2 miles away) and want a leg-stretch without driving far, this does the job.

There's no visitor facility to speak of - no car park building, no café. You'll be self-sufficient here. Come in late spring or early autumn when it's not dripping wet and when the light filters through properly. Summer can be a bit dense and shadeless.

It's not a destination in itself, but if you're exploring the Teifi valley and staying locally, it beats sitting around. Don't expect dramatic scenery or walks that'll blow your mind. Expect a genuine slice of Welsh woodland where you won't bump into crowds.
