All Saints

The tower of All Saints dominates Faringdon's high street - you can't miss it, really. This is proper medieval England: a church that's been standing since the 12th century, with all the architectural layers you'd expect from a building that's watched over the same market town for nearly 900 years.

Inside, it's got some lovely details if you know where to look. The nave's spacious enough to feel genuinely impressive without being overwhelming, and there are monuments and brasses scattered about that tell stories of local families who mattered once. The chancel's worth a proper look too. It's the sort of place where you can spend twenty minutes or two hours depending on whether you're just passing through or actually interested in the carvings and inscriptions.

This works best for anyone staying at Bluewood Lodges or Faringdon Grange nearby - it's literally on your doorstep and takes maybe half an hour if you're not rushing. History types will find enough to occupy them, though it's not going to blow your mind if you've seen a lot of medieval churches. The Real Campsite over the way makes it an easy stop between pitches and other attractions. Just check ahead for opening times and services - churches can be a bit variable about when they're actually open to visitors, and there's usually someone about on Sundays if nothing else.
