All Saints (Buckworth parish church)

The church sits quietly at the heart of Buckworth village, a few miles east of Huntingdon - easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but worth the small detour. All Saints is a proper medieval parish church, the sort of place where you can actually feel the centuries pressing down on the stonework. The interior has some lovely details if you take time to look: monuments, brass plaques, timber roof work that's held up longer than most marriages last these days.

It's not a showstopper like some of the cathedrals you'll find elsewhere in the region, but that's rather the point. This is a working village church, unpretentious and genuine. The churchyard's peaceful too - good for a ten-minute wander if you need a break from the car or campsite routines.

Families won't get hours out of it, but it makes sense as a quick stop if you're exploring the Huntingdon area. Walkers and history enthusiasts will appreciate the peace and the chance to see how ordinary medieval life expressed itself in stone. Free to visit, obviously.

If you're based at Grafham Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite just up the road, this is a sensible addition to a morning's local pottering rather than a destination in itself. Worth fifteen minutes of your time, no more, no less.
