Standing at 1,500 feet, this limestone peak offers some of the most rewarding views in the Peak District without the crowds that swarm Kinder Scout or Bleaklow. The summit sits just south of Buxton, making it an accessible half-day walk for families staying at nearby holiday parks. From the top, you'll get proper panoramic views across the White Peak, with the distinctive profile of Shutlingsloe visible on clear days.

The route up isn't particularly challenging - a steady climb through typical Peak District moorland that takes about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot. Keen walkers will appreciate the quieter paths, though the boggy patches near the summit can be a right pain after wet weather. Children who are comfortable with longer walks will manage it fine, but toddlers might struggle with the uneven terrain.

What makes this peak special is its position between the limestone dales and the darker gritstone moors. It's free to access year-round, though spring and autumn offer the best walking conditions. If you're based at Newhaven Holiday Park or any of the glamping sites around Hoe Grange, it's practically on your doorstep. Allow three hours for the round trip including time to properly take in those views - they're well worth the effort.
