Aldford Iron Bridge

The Aldford Iron Bridge is a proper Victorian engineering marvel that spans the River Dee just outside Chester. Built in the 19th century, it's a working bridge that still carries traffic across the river, so you're not just looking at a museum piece; you're seeing something that does its job.

Walkers get the most from this one. The bridge sits on a lovely stretch of the Dee Valley, and there's a decent footpath along the riverbank nearby. If you're staying at one of the parks within a few miles - Manor Wood or Willow Farm Glamping are both close by - you could easily string together a riverside walk that takes in the bridge without making it the whole day's activity. It's more of a "lovely stop-off point" than a destination in itself. Fifteen minutes of poking around is about right unless you're really into Victorian engineering.
