Adventure Golf

The eighteen-hole course is right on the edge of Penrith, tucked away near the main road but easy enough to find once you're looking for it. It's proper mini golf - the kind with obstacles, ramps, and the odd loop-the-loop that'll have you cursing under your breath when your ball rolls back down for the third time. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just a solid afternoon's entertainment.

Families with kids aged five upwards will get genuine enjoyment from this. The course isn't so difficult that younger children throw their clubs down in frustration, but it's tricky enough to keep adults engaged. The whole thing takes about an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're playing multiple rounds or your group is competitive about scorecards.

It's the sort of place that works brilliantly as a rainy-day fallback or a pre-dinner wind-down when you're staying at Crossfells Campsite or Howdy Glamping up the road. Neither spot is more than a few minutes' drive away, which matters when you've got kids in the car. If you're based at Lowther Holiday Park, it's similarly convenient.

Bring some loose change for the score cards if they still use them, and don't expect restaurant-grade facilities - this is honest, straightforward seaside-town entertainment. It fills an hour or two without drama, and that's precisely what it should do.
