The walk up Yorburgh rewards you with views across Wensleydale that genuinely take your breath away - and not just from the climbing. It's a proper fell, nothing fancy, but the kind of walk that reminds you why Yorkshire's worth the trip.

You'll be tackling moorland terrain, which means bog in places and exposed ridges when the wind picks up. The summit itself is modest - no trig point drama here - but that's almost the point. You've earned those views through graft, not Instagram infrastructure. From the top, Hawes sits below you in the valley, and the patchwork of fields stretches out in every direction. Allow two to three hours for a steady round trip from the road.

This is proper walker territory. Families with young kids might find the moorland a slog, particularly when it's wet, but teenagers who can handle rough ground will get something real from it. History buffs won't find plaques or interpretive panels - just the land itself and whatever stories you bring to it.
