You'll find yourself among tall Scots pines and Douglas firs the moment you step into William Farr Wood near Market Rasen - it's a proper woodland walk, not some manicured visitor attraction. Timing-wise, spring and early summer are best - winter can feel a bit bleak among all those conifers, and muddy tracks get heavy with rain. Go on a weekday if you can; weekends bring the dog walkers from town. It's not a showstopper destination, but as a local forest escape it does the job well enough.
