Willett Hill

The climb up Willett Hill rewards you with proper views across the Quantock Hills and out towards the Bristol Channel on a clear day. It's not a slog - twenty minutes or so of steady walking gets you to the top where you can see for miles. The Quantocks are softer, gentler than Exmoor, and this peak sits right in the middle of them, making it an ideal afternoon walk if you're based near Taunton.

Families with reasonably fit kids will manage it without complaint. The path is straightforward enough, though it can be boggy in wet weather, and there's nothing particularly dramatic about the summit itself - no trig point, no café, just open moorland and that view. For walkers wanting something less demanding than a full Quantocks traverse, this works well. History types won't find much here; it's pure landscape walking.

There's no admission fee and no set hours to observe. Early morning or late afternoon light hits the hills beautifully, so plan accordingly. Allow ninety minutes if you're taking photos and sitting about, less if you're just up for the view and back down.

If you're staying at Middle Stone Farm Glamping just down the road, you've got a cracking walk on your doorstep. Haven Doniford Bay and Waterrow Touring Park are both close enough for an easy drive and walk combo. It pairs well with exploring the lower Quantocks - nothing dramatic, but solid walking country.
