Dense woodland stretches across rolling terrain, and there's something satisfying about walking through it without the crowds you'd find elsewhere in Northumberland. The trees are substantial - mostly conifers with the odd deciduous mix - and the paths cut through cleanly enough that you won't spend half the day fighting undergrowth.

It's a solid spot for walkers who want a couple of hours in the woods without needing to commit to a full day's expedition. The terrain isn't flat, mind you - there's a decent climb in places - but nothing that'll flatten you if you're reasonably fit. Riverside Rothbury Holiday Park is slightly further but offers better facilities if you're after a proper base - though the glamping at Woodland Chase is honestly the winner if you want something a bit different. The forestry itself won't be the highlight of your trip, but it fills an afternoon perfectly when the weather's decent.
