Whittington Woods

Walking into Whittington Woods feels like stepping into one of those old Gloucestershire postcards - all ancient oaks and dappled light filtering through the canopy. It's a proper woodland, the kind where you can actually lose an hour without noticing because the paths wind through without any obvious destination nagging at you.

The woods sit just outside Cheltenham, which makes them ideal if you're staying at Bourton-on-the-Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite and fancy a half-day ramble. There's something deeply satisfying about walking woodland this old - you can feel the weight of centuries in the trunk sizes alone.
