This place works brilliantly for anyone with even a flicker of interest in water sports - whether you're a confident swimmer keen to progress or just fancy trying something daft on holiday. Families with older kids (teens especially) will get hours out of it, though you'll want to check their age and ability requirements before turning up. Younger children might find the waiting around frustrating, and it's definitely not the sort of activity toddlers will enjoy.

The location near Dunfermline means it slots nicely into a Fife break. Green Oak Nature Retreat is just three miles away - handy if you want to recover from your soaking wet attempt with a peaceful evening under the stars. Meadow View Glamping and Camping, further afield at nearly six miles, gives you a bit more distance if you're after genuine quiet. Either way, you've got decent base camps sorted.

Booking ahead is essential. Bring a change of clothes, waterproofs for spectators, and honest expectations about how hard it actually is. Even absolute beginners can manage it, but you'll be gassed after twenty minutes.
