Wargrave Recreation Ground

The Thames Path runs right through Wargrave Recreation Ground, which makes it one of those places you'll likely stumble upon rather than deliberately plan for. It's a proper riverside spot - open grassland with trees, benches facing the water, and the sort of peaceful atmosphere you get when somewhere is local enough that tourists haven't colonised it entirely.

What you're actually doing here is walking. There's the riverside itself, good for a stroll or stopping to watch the water, and the grounds are flat enough that it's manageable for most people. Families with younger children will find it pleasant rather than thrilling - there's space to run around, but it's not a playground with equipment. Walkers doing the Thames Path will naturally pass through and probably spend twenty minutes here rather than making a trip of it.

The nearest proper town is Marlow, which sits just downstream and is worth factoring into your visit if you're planning lunch or a look around proper shops. If you're staying at any of the caravan parks within a few miles - Hurley Riverside, Swiss Farm, or Henley Four Oaks - this is genuinely on your doorstep and makes for an easy morning walk before breakfast or a late afternoon stretch of the legs.

Free to access, as you'd expect from a recreation ground. Allow thirty minutes to an hour, longer if you're serious about the walking. The Thames Valley gets busy on summer weekends, but this stretch feels genuinely under the radar.
