Step inside though, and you'll find a proper example of 19th-century Nonconformist architecture - high ceilings, galleries, and that particular light that only comes through period windows. The interior is straightforward rather than showy, which is rather the point of Baptist chapels.

It's not a major tourist draw, to be honest. You're looking at maybe 20 minutes inside, longer if you're genuinely into ecclesiastical architecture or local history. The real audience here is heritage enthusiasts and anyone with a genuine interest in how ordinary communities worshipped beyond the Church of England. Families with young children might find it a bit dry unless they're already keyed into that sort of thing.

The main practical issue is access. Opening hours aren't widely advertised, so ringing ahead is essential - you might find it locked on a random Tuesday. Admission appears to be free, though a donation box is the done thing.

If you're already staying at one of the nearby parks - Warren Wood Country Park is genuinely excellent and worth the visit alone - Pevensey has enough going on to fill a few hours. The castle ruins are the real draw here, frankly. Victoria Baptist Church works as a quiet cultural footnote to that, somewhere to spend 20 minutes if you're in the mood for it rather than a reason to make the journey.
