Uplands Park

You can easily spend an hour here, two if you're the type who stops to identify every bird call. There's no visitor centre or café, so come prepared if you're staying a while. The reserve appears to be free to access, though it's worth checking locally before you visit.

If you're based at Green Acres Caravan Park or Fox's Furrow nearby, Uplands is a straightforward morning outing without needing to plan a major day trip. It works well alongside other local walks rather than as a destination in itself. Not the flashiest nature reserve you'll visit, but honest, unpretentious, and genuinely useful if you need to get outside without travelling far from Leicester.
