The walk up to Unleashed Core Hill rewards you with proper Devon views once you've made the effort. It's not a particularly long trek, but the climb does have teeth to it - bring decent footwear and expect a bit of huffing on the steeper sections. From the top, you get the kind of sprawling vista over the countryside that makes you understand why people move to this corner of the world.

This is one for walkers rather than those after a quick photo stop. Families with kids who can handle a moderate hike will find it worthwhile, though younger children might struggle with the ascent. The summit itself is wide enough to sit and catch your breath, and on a clear day you'll see far enough to make the climb feel justified.

Based near Sidmouth, it fits nicely into a walking holiday where you're staying at one of the local parks - Oakdown Touring and Holiday Caravan Park, Ladram Bay, or Cuckoo Down Farm Glamping are all within spitting distance. If you're already in the area exploring the coastal paths and nearby attractions, a morning or early afternoon push up here is time well spent. Don't expect facilities at the top, so bring water and something to eat. Go when the weather's settled - the views vanish completely if clouds roll in, and the paths get slippery when wet.
