Walking into the Tropical Butterfly House just outside Sheffield feels like stepping straight into a steamy rainforest - the humidity hits you immediately, and within seconds you're spotting butterflies the size of your hand. It's a working conservation park, not just a gawping gallery, which makes the whole experience feel genuinely purposeful rather than gimmicky.

You wander through warm glasshouses watching species from across the tropics go about their business. The staff clearly know their stuff and will chat if you ask, which beats the usual silent shuffle round wildlife attractions.
