Trenant Wood

Ancient oak and beech trees tower overhead as you follow the winding paths through this proper woodland sanctuary just outside Looe. Trenant Wood covers around 20 hectares of mixed deciduous forest, with well-maintained trails that loop through different sections without being too taxing on the legs.

Families with young children will find it manageable - most paths are pushchair-friendly and there's enough variety to keep curious minds occupied for a good hour or so. The wood comes alive in spring with bluebells carpeting the forest floor, though it's lovely year-round for a gentle woodland walk.

Dog walkers absolutely love this place, and you'll likely spot red squirrels if you're quiet and lucky. The paths connect in several places, so you can make your walk as short or long as suits.

Being so close to Looe, it makes a cracking addition to a Cornwall holiday. Families staying at nearby parks like Tencreek or Killigarth Manor will find it's barely a few minutes' drive away - perfect for burning off energy before or after a day on Looe's beaches. The wood provides a nice contrast to all that seaside time, and parking seems straightforward enough near the main entrance.
