Toy's Hill

The highest point in Greater London sits just over the Kent border near Edenbridge, and it's nowhere near as dramatic as you'd hope. Toy's Hill reaches 821 metres - well, technically 271 metres - and on a clear day you can see across the Weald towards the South Downs. The views are genuine enough, though you're not exactly standing on a peak looking down at the world. It's more of a pleasant rise through National Trust woodland with the occasional clearing that lets you breathe out a bit.

Walkers will find this worthwhile. There are proper trails threading through beech and oak, and the paths are well-maintained without being dull. The summit itself is marked, so you won't miss it, and there's a small car park at the base which is genuinely helpful. Allow an hour to get up and down comfortably, longer if you want to explore the surrounding woodland properly. It's free to visit and the National Trust maintains the whole area.

Families with younger kids might find it a bit of a trudge without much payoff - once you've reached the top and had a look, that's largely that. Teenagers or keen walkers will get more from it. If you're staying at Luna Domes Luxury Glamping nearby, it's easily doable as a morning walk before heading elsewhere. Worth the detour if you're in the area and fancy some proper woodland, though don't make it your main event.
