Tibbermore Parish Kirk

The kirk sits quietly on the edge of Tibbermore, just outside Perth, and if you're passing through Perthshire you could do worse than stopping for ten minutes. It's a modest stone church - nothing flashy, nothing that screams "tourist attraction" - but it has genuine historical weight. The building dates back centuries and contains some interesting carved stones and monuments that tell you something real about the people who lived here.

It's the sort of place that appeals to history types and church architecture enthusiasts rather than families looking for a day out. You won't spend hours here - twenty minutes is realistic unless you're really into medieval masonry and burial grounds. The churchyard is worth a wander though, especially if you like reading old gravestones.

For campers based at Perth Caravan Park or the Scone Camping and Caravanning Club Site nearby, it makes a decent half-hour diversion while you're exploring the area. Not far from Perth itself, so it slots in easily if you're doing the rounds of Perthshire's quieter spots. Admission appears to be free, which is fair enough for what it is.

The real appeal here is that it's completely unpretentious. No gift shop, no crowds, no faffing about. If you're interested in Scottish parish churches and don't mind that it lacks the drama of bigger cathedrals, it's worth the detour.
