Three acre dog field

Three acres of pure dog chaos near Lochwinnoch - and that's exactly the point. This is proper off-lead territory where your dog can actually stretch its legs without you worrying about sheep or main roads. The field itself is open grassland with a few trees dotted about, nothing fancy, but that's not why people drive here.

It's the freedom that matters. Dogs come absolutely bonkers when they realise they can sprint the full length without a lead, chase each other senseless, and generally be dogs. You'll see spaniels bombing through the grass, border collies doing their herding thing on nothing in particular, and the occasional confused Pomeranian wondering where all the action is. Most owners cluster near the entrance chatting while their animals sort themselves out.

Honestly? If you've got a dog with proper recall, you'll get a solid hour out of it. If your dog ignores the words "come back", bring a long line. There's no water trough that I could find, so bring a bowl and a bottle on warm days - your dog will need it after running around like an idiot.

It works brilliantly if you're staying at The Pods at Auchenhean nearby and need to burn off some serious energy before settling in for the evening. Not a day trip destination on its own, but a cracking bonus if you're in the area with a four-legged friend. Free, as far as I could tell, and worth the visit.
