Thomas land

Thomas Land sits within Drayton Manor Theme Park near Atherstone, and it's essentially a corner of the park dedicated entirely to the blue engine and his friends. If your kids are anywhere between two and seven years old and mildly obsessed with Thomas, they'll lose their minds here. The rides are properly gentle - nothing that'll give you heart palpitations - and include a miniature train ride where you actually get pulled along by a Thomas replica engine. There's also the Troublesome Trucks dark ride, which is just the right level of excitement for young children without being scary.

The whole land takes about two to three hours to see properly, including queues. It's not enormous, so don't expect a full day's worth of content, but it pairs well with the rest of Drayton Manor if you're making a trip. Admission is included with your main park ticket. Go during a weekday in term time if you can stomach the drive from Atherstone - the queues get daft during school holidays and weekends.

One honest note: if your kids have moved on from Thomas, there's not much here for older children or adults on their own. It's laser-focused on the under-eights market.
