The Sandhole Park

The Sandhole Park sits just outside Stoke-on-Trent and is a proper local leisure spot that doesn't pretend to be anything grander than it is. It's a sand and gravel extraction area that's been transformed into a recreational space - so you're looking at open water, sandy banks, and fairly industrial surroundings rather than manicured gardens. On a decent day the light across the water is genuinely nice, though it's never going to rival the sandstone cliffs and proper countryside you'd find in the Peak District nearby.
