Kids under ten might find it a bit thin on engagement unless there's something interactive on, but teenagers into art will get more out of it.

If you're staying at Three Ponds Holiday Park down the road, this is a straightforward coastal detour worth tacking on to a cliff walk. The location is the real draw here - a proper working fort with history layered underneath the contemporary art feel. Bring a windproof jacket. The clifftop position means you'll catch the full force of the weather, which is half the charm but not pleasant if you're unprepared.
