The Law

A steep cone of a hill rising abruptly from the Clackmannanshire flatlands, The Law offers proper views across the Forth Valley if you're willing to graft for them. The walk up takes about twenty minutes from the car park near Clackmannan town, and it's genuinely steep - the kind of climb that gets your heart going. Once you're up top, though, you get 360-degree views that stretch all the way to the Ochil Hills on a clear day. The summit's marked with a stone tower, which makes for a decent photo if you're into that sort of thing.

It's the sort of place that rewards a morning visit before the Scottish light turns flat. Families with primary-school kids will manage it fine, though younger ones might need coaxing on the final push. The whole outing takes under an hour, so it works well as a quick break from caravan life - either from Witches Craig Caravan & Camping Park or Highland Gateway Glamping down the road.

There's not much else up there bar the view itself, so don't expect facilities or a tearoom. The car park is basic but adequate, and access is free. Go on a settled day rather than when it's murky; spend half an hour at the top, then head back down and treat yourself to lunch in Clackmannan. It's not a major day out, but as a local accent point during a Lowlands caravan trip, it does the job well.
