The Fusilier Museum Warwick

The Fusilier Museum sits in the heart of Warwick, housed in a Grade II listed building that once served as the regimental headquarters. It's a proper military history museum, telling the story of the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers from their formation right through to modern operations. You'll find uniforms, weapons, medals and personal effects that actually tell you something about the soldiers who wore them - not just lined up for display.

The collection spans centuries of campaigning: the Napoleonic Wars, India, Africa, both world wars and beyond. If you've got an interest in military history or family connections to the regiment, you'll spend a solid couple of hours here. Kids might find bits engaging - there are weapons to examine - but it's not a hands-on sort of place, so don't expect them to be entertained for hours.

Warwick itself is where you'll base yourself, and you're brilliantly positioned. The castle dominates the skyline and frankly overshadows this museum in terms of visitor draw. But if you're doing a park holiday at one of the nearby sites - Warwick Racecourse Caravan Club is practically on the doorstep, as is Knight's Village at the castle - the museum makes a solid rainy afternoon stop. It's free entry too, which doesn't hurt. Check opening times before you go though, as hours can be tight depending on the season. Worth the detour if military history interests you; skip it otherwise.
