Tapped Hill

The walk up Tapped Hill rewards you with proper views across the Lowlands - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day you can see well beyond Lanark toward the Southern Uplands. It's a straightforward hill walk rather than a scramble, so families with decent legs won't struggle, though the path gets a bit boggy underfoot in places.

You're looking at a couple of hours return if you start from Lanark itself. The summit's modest height means it doesn't demand serious hiking kit, just waterproofs and decent boots. Walkers after something more substantial than a park stroll but less demanding than a proper mountain will find this hits the sweet spot.

Timing matters here. Early morning or late afternoon light transforms the views. Midday can feel a bit flat. The hill works brilliantly as a half-day outing before or after exploring Lanark's town centre, which has more character than you'd expect for its size.

The glamping site itself is well-positioned for exploring the wider area - you're within reach of New Lanark's mills and museums, but also genuinely rural enough that a hill walk feels like proper escape.
