Studland Hill

The walk up Studland Hill rewards you with proper views across Swanage Bay and out towards the Isle of Purbeck. It's not a dramatic peak - you're looking at maybe 140 metres at its highest - but the vantage point justifies the short trek from Studland village.

The climb itself takes twenty minutes or so, depending on fitness. It's a steady ascent rather than punishing, with a decent footpath that gets boggy in patches after rain. Once you're up there, the vista spreads out nicely: you can see across to Old Harry Rocks on one side and down towards Swanage on the other. On a clear day it's genuinely worth the effort.

Walkers will find it's ideal for a morning hike before breakfast or a late afternoon wander. Families with young kids might find it a bit of a slog if they're not keen on climbing, but it's short enough that most manage without complaint. History buffs won't find much up there - this is about the view rather than any particular story.

It's free to access and open whenever you fancy it. Allow roughly an hour for the round trip if you're taking photos and lingering at the top. If you're staying at Ulwell Holiday Park or Swanage Bay View - both within a couple of miles - Studland Hill makes a decent morning excursion before heading into Swanage itself. The walk also connects nicely with the broader Purbeck coastal trails if you want to make a longer day of it.
