Street Mission Church

Street itself is a working town, not some picture-postcard village, and the Mission Church sits right in the middle of it all. Built in 1887 by C.N. Family Shoe Company founder Clarks as a space for his workers to worship, it's a proper Victorian edifice with red brick and a certain no-nonsense charm that fits the place perfectly. Inside, the architecture is straightforward and honest - high ceilings, good natural light, and craftsmanship that speaks of a different era. The stained glass is worth pausing at.

You'll get most out of this if you're interested in industrial history and how paternalist employers of the 19th century actually thought about their workers. It's not a theatrical or touristy experience. There's no gift shop. You just turn up and have a look at a working church that happens to have a fascinating backstory.
