Stream is a modest lake sitting just outside Melton Mowbray, and honestly, it's the sort of place you'd stumble upon rather than plan a special trip for. That said, if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks - The Grange, Eye Kettleby Lakes, or Frisby Lakes Lodge Park are all within five miles - it's a decent spot for a morning walk or a bit of casual fishing.

The water itself is fairly straightforward: a quiet lake that attracts the usual mix of anglers and dog walkers. There's not a great deal of infrastructure around it, which is either refreshing or disappointing depending on your mood. No cafés, no visitor centre, no gift shop nonsense. Just water, sky, and whatever wildlife happens to be about that day.

It works best for people who actually fish or for families after a gentle stroll without the crowds you'd get at bigger attractions. Kids won't be massively entertained for hours, but it's perfectly fine as part of a broader day out exploring the area. The countryside around Melton Mowbray is proper lovely for walking, and Stream fits into that landscape without demanding much attention.

If you're staying at one of the local parks and need something low-key, it's worth a visit. Don't expect anything fancy or heavily developed. Go early, bring binoculars if you're into birds, and treat it as a quiet corner of the Midlands rather than a destination in itself.
