Strachan Parish Church

The building itself is modest - whitewashed walls, a simple bell tower, the kind of Scottish parish church you see dotted across the Highlands. Inside, it's peaceful and genuinely quiet in a way that modern churches rarely manage.

This isn't a destination that'll swallow your afternoon. You're looking at twenty minutes inside, maybe another ten if you're someone who reads every inscription and sits for a bit. If you're staying at one of the caravan parks around Banchory - Feughside or Banchory Lodge are both within a couple of miles - it's a decent morning walk from the campsite and breaks up a park holiday nicely. The surrounding countryside is genuinely pleasant, and the walk there matters as much as the building itself.

Go early on a weekday if you want proper peace. Don't make it your only stop - pair it with a walk along the Dee or a visit to nearby Banchory itself.
