Stoney Hill Park - Dog Park

There's a proper dog run tucked into the Shropshire countryside just outside Coalbrookdale, and if you're bringing your hound on a caravan holiday, Stoney Hill Park is worth knowing about. The setup is straightforward - it's a dedicated off-lead area within a nature reserve, so your dog gets freedom to chase around while you're not entirely confined to manicured grass. The walking trails through the reserve itself are decent enough, winding through woodland with enough variation to keep things interesting for an hour or so.

Dog owners will appreciate the space and the fact that it's not rammed with people, though I'd check conditions before visiting if there's been heavy rain - the paths can get boggy. The nature reserve side means there's actual habitat here rather than just a churned-up field, which you notice in the types of birds and plants you'll spot.

It's not somewhere you'll spend half a day, but as a stop-off during a week at Sytche Caravan & Camping Park or one of the other sites nearby, it does the job. Coalbrookdale itself has the Iron Bridge and museum if you need other attractions on a damp afternoon. Let your dog burn some energy, stretch your legs, and move on - that's the honest assessment. Fine for breaking up the day, not a destination in itself.
