Standing Stones

The standing stones near Aberfeldy are proper ancient. You're looking at Bronze Age monuments that have survived here for thousands of years, weathered into strange shapes by Scottish weather. If you're staying at Aberfeldy Caravan Park or Pitilie Pods, both within a couple of miles, this slots perfectly into a half-day excursion. The drive from either takes minutes. Allow an hour for the walk and time to absorb the place - don't rush it. Best visited when weather's decent; a downpour turns the moorland into a slog.

Free to visit, naturally. No barriers, no fees, just you and some stones that were old when the Romans left Britain. That's the appeal.
