St Silin's Church

The church sits quietly on a hillside above Llanymynech, a modest stone building that's been there so long most people drive past without noticing it. St Silin's has that particular kind of charm - no gift shop, no visitor centre, just a door that's usually open and pews worn smooth by centuries of backsides.

Inside, it's properly atmospheric. The light comes through old glass, and there's that distinctive smell - part stone, part candle wax, part time itself. The church dates back medieval times, though it's been rebuilt and patched up more than once. It's not a destination in itself - you won't drive an hour out of your way for it. But if you're staying at Tanat Holiday Park nearby and fancy a gentle walk, it's worth the detour. The surrounding countryside is proper lovely, with decent walking paths radiating out from the village.
