St Peters, Rous Lench

The churchyard at Rous Lench sits quietly off a narrow country lane, and St Peters itself is one of those proper medieval churches that rewards a bit of effort to find. You're looking at 13th and 14th century work mostly - the kind of solid, no-nonsense construction that was built to last and has done exactly that.

Inside, the nave's straightforward enough, but the real draw is the detail work if you take time to spot it. Medieval wall paintings survive in patches, and there's decent tracery in the windows. It's the sort of place where you genuinely feel like you've stepped back several centuries rather than walked into a polished heritage attraction. The churchyard itself is worth a wander too - proper country churchyard with old gravestones scattered about, the kind of spot that makes you pause.

This isn't a destination on its own unless you're a serious church crawler. What it is, though, is a genuine bit of medieval England tucked into the Warwickshire countryside between Pershore and the Vale of Evesham. If you're based at Wixford Grange nearby, it's exactly the sort of walk-around-and-discover thing that makes a park holiday feel less like sitting still and more like actually exploring a region.
